Remote Control
Police riots. Children's bedtimes: How do we exert control? Internationally acclaimed ensemble tangled feet exploit technological boundaries within a 'live' interactive environment that responds to every manoeuvre.
Remote Control was premiered at The Place Theatre in Feb 2011
Remote Control is the result of a two-week exploratory period at the National
Theatre Studio working with musician Guy Connelly (of the acclaimed band Clock
Opera) and designer Simon Daw (both of whom collaborated with us on ‘Showtime’
for Nabakov Arts Club in Oct 2009) the ensemble investigated how we can better
integrate technology into live performance.
The project includes exploring:
- Live video tracking using infra red light so that video responds to the position of the performer.
- Live mixing of video samples in response to the performance.
- Manipulation of video and audio triggered by sensors attached to the performers bodies.
- Mapping of video onto objects and architecture
- Music sample triggering in response to performance
- Performers creating an electronic music soundtrack themselves as part of the performance
- Using new programmes to link video and sound samples together, to be triggered live in response to performance.
This project marks tangled feet’s new relationship and collaboration with
the National Theatre Studio.
